PIN-SHARP ENHANCEMENT FILTER
Invisible to onlookers, the function of the filter is elementary: to concentrate the light passing through the lens to the eye. This has the effect of “sharpening” the image received by the retina, increasing depth of field and reducing peripheral aberration. In some ways you could consider it a more sophisticated (and cosmetically appealing) method of achieving the “pin-hole” effect of stenopeic frames.
The filter itself can be described as a fine mesh of perfectly interlocking hexagons. In fact, hexagons appear frequently in nature (beehives, flowers, snowflakes, turtle shells) so it's appropriate that they can be used to enhance one of nature's greatest gifts - sight!
Whilst the vast majority of patients will experience noticeable benefit from lenses featuring the enhancement filter, there are specific applications where individuals have noticed dramatic results. These include:
- Photo-sensitive epilepsy
- Post cataract surgery
- Difficulty driving at night
Having quickly attracted interest within the industry, many practitioners now hold the view that the Pin-Sharp Enhancement Filter can make a real difference to the visual comfort of a broad cross-section of patients who report irritation resulting from glare and blurring. It achieves this by reducing exposure to EMI radiation and combating diffused reflections, channelling and purifying the signal reaching the retina. This results in sharper, clearer vision without eyestrain.
The PIN-SHARP ENHANCEMENT FILTER is currently available as an option for the majority of our SPACE & TIME portfolio as well as for many Rx single-vision products. It is also available from stock in RIO 1.6 Aspheric.
